© Shoreland, Inc. Travax yellow fever maps are color images. Gray-scale printouts may lose clarity. Consult the color PDF version for clearest interpretation. Revision 100615 Vaccination recommendation: Recommended for travelers 9 months of age and older: areas east of the Andes Mountains below 2,300 m (7,500 ft) (see map). Daytime insect precautions are essential for unvaccinated travelers. Not recommended except for highly risk-averse travelers and long-stay travelers: itineraries limited to areas west of the Andes Mountains below 2,300 m except Guayaquil (see map). No human cases of YF have ever been reported from these areas, and data analysis by WHO indicates extremely low potential for YF virus exposure. Not recommended: itineraries limited to the cities of Guayaquil, Quito, Cuenca, or Otavalo; the Cotopaxi Volcano; areas above 2,300 m; or the Galápagos Islands. NOTE: Entry requirements may apply for this country. Please see the YF requirement statement in the Travax country profile.

First case of yellow fever in French Guiana since 1902.
The first case of yellow fever in French Guiana since 1902 was reported in March 1998. The yellow fever virus genome was detected in postmortem liver biopsies by seminested polymerase chain reaction. Sequence analysis showed that this strain was most closely related to strains from Brazil and Ecuador.

UNLABELLED A new flavivirus, Ecuador Paraiso Escondido virus (EPEV), named after the village where it was discovered, was isolated from sand flies (Psathyromyia abonnenci, formerly Lutzomyia abonnenci) that are unique to the New World. This represents the first sand fly-borne flavivirus identified in the New World. EPEV exhibited a typical flavivirus genome organization. Nevertheless, the maxim...
متن کاملGenetic heterogeneity of yellow fever virus strains from Africa and the Americas.
Isolates of yellow fever (YF) virus from Africa (Senegambia, Central African Republic, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso) and from South America (Panama, Ecuador, Trinidad) were examined by oligonucleotide fingerprinting of the 40S genome RNA. Geographically isolated and epidemiologically unrelated viruses were very distinct. On the basis of the T1 oligonucleotide fingerprints of each isolate, four geo...
